Prof sets up blog for PG Hindi students

To make it easier for students unable to attend classes, Dr Ranjana Argade has created a blog where all the course material on the subject and reference material is made available

Dr Ranjana Argade (right) has set up drranjanaargade.blogspot.com which is interactive and all queries will be answered by her A professor of Hindi has made it possible for external and other students who are unable to attend regular classes to avail of all material related to post-graduate studies on the subject. With limited number of seats at the School of Languages, Gujarat University, students of rural areas who are unable to get into the school need not despair now. Dr Ranjana Argade, head of Department of Hindi, at the university has found a way to help these students out. To make it easier for the students to grasp the subject better, get access to coursework and study material, Dr Argade has set up the blog. With the semester system bringing in a lot more project work and assignments, students find it difficult to cope with the syllabus. To help them out, the professor has set up drranjanaargade.blogspot.com which is interactive and anybody posting any queries regarding the subject will be answered by the professor. Students have to look up a lot of reference material during projects, so that they get good credits. The blog is linked to sites that have reference material, which the students can easily access. External students from Santrampur, Dahod and other areas who are not well-versed with the language visit the university during seminars and conferences. They have a lot of queries on the subject. Their questions and more have been answered by the professor on the blog. Dr Argade said, “Students get authentic study material and one that will provide the students with the right answers. The purpose is to create a two-way communication with the students who are stuck at some point and are seeking answers, which they can easily avail of online.” This is very useful during examination time when students are preparing under pressure. Students also have a lot of confusion over the semester system. This blog is to clear their doubts, she said. “How to write in an exam and get maximum marks and get answers to their problems is the purpose.” In the fourth semester, adverts have to be created for project work. How to create one is taught. Some examples have also been put on the blog, besides links to poetry recitation by litterateurs on Youtube. “We are also planning recording of our lectures and posting it on the blog,” the professor said.
